BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from adding an additional key or replacing the ECU to get around your security system because it requires a correct PIN code to begin the engine.

The Ghost is unique to other immobilisers in that it does not use key fobs or LED indicators. It uses the buttons on your vehicle to let you to enter a unique sequence of disarming that only you know.

Stop & Start

If you've ever driven a brand new BMW or used the stop-start feature then you may have noticed that after stopping the engine will continue to be running for approximately 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuing to monitor your vehicle for an ignition key, and if it is detected, it will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car whenever you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a next-generation device, doesn't require cutting OEM wires or install keys or alarms that are made by an aftermarket company. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with an unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This lets you enter the key sequences which aren't accessible in normal media menus. For example the volume up/down button, or source, air conditioning, cruise control, etc. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to guess.

In addition to this we can also add a service / valet mode to the system. This is activated when your car is in for servicing so that the Ghost is not visible to the garage. You can do this by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment unit (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically re-arm when you return.

It's totally undetectable, does not require cutting any wiring from the factory and will disable your car's engine when the wrong pin code is entered. Service Mode / Valet Mode

The Ghost is a market-leading immobiliser designed to stop your vehicle from being stolen by key cloning or hacking. It works by utilizing the factory buttons of your vehicle to create an unique sequence of presses that only you can identify, much like pin code security on your mobile phone. It's incredibly secure, discreet and deters even the most obstinate thieves!

If you're at home and in the event of a meet and greet In a meet and greet situation, the Ghost can be set to service mode which allows you to start the car with your keys as normal but prevents the engine from being started until the correct code is entered. This is ideal for customers who need to turn their vehicles over to valet services or other trusted friends and family members. This allows you to take your car to the garage for maintenance or repairs, or other maintenance. without worrying about it being altered by mechanics while you are waiting.

Once the service / valet mode is enabled, it will stop your BMW from being driven after it has been started. This prevents anyone from attempting to test drive it whilst you are away. Once you return it will return to normal, preventing your vehicle from being tampered with or stolen again.

The Ghost can be installed on any BMW. All you require is the correct keys, because the device does not use the original remotes, but can be used with them. We are TASSA registered, DBS security checked and fully system trained so you can be assured of the quality of our installation and that your new Ghost device will be working according to the specifications. If you don't want to use a smartphone or don't feel comfortable using it, we can provide an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an extra cost and requires an additional Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this subtle device that is unobtrusive and helps in battling the growing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It's designed to stop thieves from adding keys or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost links up to your CAN data network and uses the buttons on your vehicle (steering wheel, centre console and door panels) to create a unique push sequence which needs to be entered before the engine can start.

When the anti-hijacking feature is activated the attempt to restart the engine will be thwarted. When the system determines that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it is unable to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where it is). By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to start temporarily without having to enter a PIN.

If you have an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it is possible to use it to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature, allowing you to still use the navigation system inside your car whilst the vehicle is parked and unsupervised. You can also use your smart-phone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device to your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This can be useful when mechanics or valets need to start your car, but you are and not in the vicinity. The system allows you to turn the vehicle on, select drive and quit service mode without needing keys. You can also track your vehicle on a map in real-time on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be placed under the dashboard or within the centre console, it is completely secure and untouchable and does not require any extra wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal PIN code is inserted into it. The pin code has to be chosen before the vehicle starts. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to bypass this system.

If the vehicle is stolen and the Ghost will go into a service mode and disables all functions unless the PIN code is entered or you can utilize the mobile app to disable it. This feature was created to safeguard your vehicle from thieves using high-tech devices who utilize relay boxes to steal it. This will prevent thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat-nav or mp3 players to locate your vehicle!

Ghost can also stop the 'Relay Style Frequency Amplifier'. This is the most common way a car is being taken away with a key-fob that has been copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost lets you stop this from happening by installing a device called Secure-A Key in your vehicle. The device installs inside the key-fob in your vehicle and disconnects the battery after a few minutes of inactivity. This is possible on all modern PKE key-fobs.
