BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or installing a new lock to bypass the security system.

In contrast to other immobilisers, The Ghost is different from other immobilisers. Ghost does not use LED indicators or key-fobs. Instead, it makes use of your vehicle's existing buttons to allow you to enter a unique disarm sequence that only you know.

Stop & Start

If you have previously driven a brand new BMW or used the stop-start feature then you may have noticed that after stopping the engine will still continue to run for around 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuously monitoring your vehicle for a signal from the ignition key, and when it is detected, it will keep running. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car when you push a button sequence.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or adding aftermarket alarm and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with an unique PIN code which is accessible through buttons on your car. This lets you enter key sequences that are not accessible in normal menus for media. For instance volume up/down, source air conditioning, cruise control and more. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 numbers, so it is extremely difficult for thieves to figure out or break.

In addition to this we can also add a service or valet mode to the system, this is activated when the car is in for servicing to ensure that the Ghost remains hidden from the garage. This can be achieved by pressing the service button on your infotainment system five times (the system will flash to confirm this) and when you return, the Ghost will automatically re-arm.

Service / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the leading immobiliser available. It stops your vehicle from being stolen by hacking or key cloning. It uses the factory buttons of your vehicle to create an unique push sequence that only you can identify. It is similar to the pin code security of your mobile phone. It's incredibly discreet and quiet, not to mention deterring even the most determined thieves from ever trying!

If you're at home and in an event where you meet and greet, In a meet and greet situation, the Ghost can be set to service mode, which allows you to start your car using your keys as normal however it stops the engine from starting again unless the correct code is entered. This is ideal for those who have to hand their vehicles over to valet businesses or other trusted friends & family members. This allows you to take your car to the garage for servicing or repairs, etc. without fearing about it being altered by an expert mechanic while you are waiting.

When the service/valet mode is enabled, your BMW will not be able to drive once it has been started. This stops anyone else from attempting to drive it while you're away. When you return, the car will revert to normal and will not be tampered or stolen again.

The Ghost can be fitted to any BMW. All you need are the correct keys since the device doesn't use the original remotes but can be used with them. We are TASSA-registered, DBS-security checked and fully trained in system installation. We can also provide an optional Bluetooth tag which can be used to disable the Ghost via an App on your smartphone (IOS & Android) or if you don't have an iPhone or aren't happy with it just press the emergency card one time. This is an extra cost and requires a different Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

With high-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated the security technology has to evolve, this is why Ghost has developed this discreet and unobtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from acquiring a new key or replacing the ECU to start your car and drive away. Ghost is connected to your CAN network and uses buttons on your vehicle to generate an unique push-sequence which must be entered before the engine can begin.

When the anti-hijacking feature is activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. If the system detects that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it is unable to identify the correct code it will also stop the engine (where possible). The Anti-Hijack feature is cancelled by entering your push sequence or by entering service mode which allows your vehicle to temporarily start and drive without needing to enter your PIN.

If you have a GPS device linked up to your BMW it is possible to use it to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature, allowing you to still use the navigation system inside your car whilst the vehicle is parked and unattended. If you own a smart-phone, you can also link it up to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack feature and other functions.

This is an Tassa approved product that is recognised by most insurance companies and will help reduce the chance of your pride and joy being stolen. It is completely invisible and will not affect your vehicle's functionality. It doesn't require any special programming knowledge to install or use. It is completely undetectable by tools for detecting that thieves employ, and it is invulnerable to key cloning because it is directly connected to your vehicles CAN data network.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful if mechanics or valets need to start your car and you have to be somewhere other where. The system allows you to turn the vehicle on, select drive and leave service mode without having keys. You can also view your vehicle's location in real-time on a map displayed on your smartphone, ideal for tracking your car when in motion.

The Ghost can be installed under the dashboard, or in the centre console. It is completely concealed and tamper-proof. It does not need any additional wiring. The device is connected to the CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to Ethernet cable) and a unique pin code is programmed into it. This pin code has to be chosen prior to the engine starting. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to disable this system.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will go into service mode and shut down all functions until you have the PIN code or can use the mobile application to disarm it. This feature was created to protect your vehicle from thieves with high-tech equipment who employ relay boxes to take it. It will even stop the thieves from using their mobile phone to turn on your sat-nav or mp3 player to locate your car!

Ghost also blocks 'Relay-style Frequency Amplification'. This is the most common method of preventing a vehicle from being stolen with a key-fob that was copied or stolen via hacking. Ghost can help you avoid this by installing an anti-theft device in your vehicle, called Secure-A-Key. The device installs inside the key-fob of your vehicle and then disconnects the battery after a few minutes of inactivity, this can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
